I personally think that weird time signatures might add different elements to music, but could also distract the listener (sp?) to the music at hand.

For example: Norma Jean and Tool use weird time signatures, and it seperates them from alot of bands out there, but sometimes u feel that the music can sometimes feel too out of place if u understand what i mean...and i was wondering if the same thing applies to orchestra music?

just let me know your thoughts on this...

If you like weird time signatures, you should check out some of David Holsinger's work. You can pick it out because of the odd meter he uses. I've played a few, but one that sticks out in my mind is called Ballet Sacra. I'll try to bring in a recording of it.
