I was very happy with the overall sound. You received many compliments. The balance was good. The dynamics were nice, and the harmonies were rich.
The most compliments I've heard have been from the swing numbers we performed. You all had a light-hearted, bouncy swing that had them toe-tapping! From my perspective, Shortnin' Bread was a big hit!
Now, we have the Spring to look forward to. In January, we'll start working on some new sight reading for Spring, some All Shore preparation. (I want you all to have a good showing at All Shore! You certainly deserve it!)
Well done!

The folks who were dedicated did fine. The folks who only came to one or two practices were unfamiliar with the music, and in many ways sight reading the concert.
My excitement for the performance is directed at those who knew their parts and were sensitive to what was going on at the moment. That is a major part of what being a musician is about. Sure, I was frustrated and disappointed about a few things.
I wish everyone took their talent more seriously. I wish everyone would have fun through music, not let their merry-making detract from the music. I wish folks would be reliable and upfront. What is a person without their word?
All in all, I'm extremely proud of you guys. I'm sure my wife gets tired of me constantly talking about the band.
I don't want anyone to think that I am just fluffing praise just to make you guys feel better. I do try to remain positive. Perhaps I should comment on the concert with details, both positive and negative?
Let's focus on making the next performance the best that it can be. Let's challenge ourselves, prevail, and have a good time along the way.

The 9th graders know how we role together and are ready for their 1st high school band challenge!! For everyone else you were there 1st semester last year and know what is really expected. Lets all work together a little more and make Mr. M a little more prowd so he can drive Mrs. M crazy...lol.
2ed for Mr. M... I have heard more good complements about you then about us. Someone has said that you are an amazing teacher compared to are last few...and that there has been big changes for the better... Thanks for everything and don't ever give up on this band....
