The next event in store for the Accomack Community Band is the Tasley Fireman's Parade. It's next Sunday, August 26th. I believe it begins at 2:00. I guess everyone will need to show up much earlier (like on the 4th) since we'll be marching and have to line up.
Anyone know what other organizations will be marching?
Do I remember correctly...is this a competition?
We'd love to see you there!
May Peace and Happiness smile upon you and your family.
Well, the parade went off without a hitch! The band looked good, sounded good, the flags were impressive as usual. Everyone seemed to have fun, and the hot dogs were good! What more could one ask for on a sunny sunday afternoon? Good job everyone!

Chris

I agree with Chris. Everyone did a wonderful job Sunday. Thanks to one and all. The next event is Richmond on Sept 29. We have reserved two Charter buses to transport everyone and the equipment. For those people interested in driving themselves we will have a designated spot to meet outside of the fairgrounds and then travel into the fair together. This is at the request of the Fair Representatives since they have limited "special " parking. More details to follow. Also we need to try and fill the buses with band and flag corp members. Make some phone calls to invite people out and lets make a good showing !
I agree with wayne and chris. the parade came off but we do have room for improvement!! I don't know about you all but i was tired and out of breath!! Steelman needs to slow us down a peg for the older out of shape members like me!! I felt like we were in a race not a parade. I think the flag corp felt the same and we need to keep them happy.
we all need to call some people and get them committed to the richmond trip.
Ok, the parade went fine from the sidelines, Rich said we sounded fine....but I have to agree the band must slow down! I felt like we were playing in 4/4 and marching in 2/2! Then my ligature pops off and the reed went next; we were going to fast for me to correct! I was limping by the end of the parade. And we can't leave the flag corp in the dust. The "beauty" of it is when we're a solid block, corp and band. It looked like we were two separate enities (sp). I knew why I never liked marching...but I'll stick in there and I'm sure the wrinkles will be worked out by Richmond. Yeah, yeah I know we weren't at band tonight, but it's my b'day and I'm watching Fantasia 2000! See ya next week.
Greetings all,
I've just added a section to the Community Band Gallery for the Tasley Fireman's parade. (Click on "Community Band Gallery" from the main page). Unfortunately, I only have two pictures (of the trophies <G>).

If anyone has any pictures they'd like to see in the gallery, please let me know (email them to me/let me borrow them so I can scan them/attach them to a message here in the forums...etc).

Also, if anyone wants to add a picture to their profiles, it has to be an image 65x75 pixels. If anyone needs help setting it up, just let me know.

Chris
