Band director says thanks
February 14, 2000
To the editor:
Where does one begin - and there is no end for
"thank you's."
It has been a great return to be recycled - I
can't believe what has happened since last September.
The credit goes to the people and students of
Accomack County.
I never dreamed it could happen the way it
has. The older players, "products of the Accomack school
system," and now a new crop of musicians just coming in the
program.
Concerts we have played and more to come and
yes, parades, and concerts in the parks. Where do we want their
endeavor to reach to?
Bringing this together in a revitalized music
program can only help all of us.
The donations, cards and letters that I have
received have been very gratifying, knowing that the citizens want the
band to regain its once great prominence.
To Bill Sterling, Ted Shockley and the staff
for bringing the information to the people. The Eastern Shore News
supported the Accomack County Recreation Band and Flag Corps, and now
the Accomack Community Band.
A short report: Monies have been used to
purchase a tuba, marching drums, clarinets, flutes, French horns,
baritone horn; and yes, people are donating instruments to the Accomack
Community Band.
Thanks, and keep supporting the work of the
people and we will support the community.
